Solving the Tar Creek Disaster

An environmental public health threat since 1979, cleaning up the Tar Creek Mining Disaster Site is a huge challenge for the 2nd District’s next Congressman. As a State House member Boren supported efforts to immediately move the area’s at risk children to a safer location through a voluntary buyout.

As Congressman Boren will work in the spirit of bipartisan cooperation to secure buyout funding so all Tar Creek families can once again be safe, and will tackle cleanup concerns head on so Green Country’s pristine environment and water quality remain the envy of the nation.

Representative Dan Boren believes that only the federal government has the ability to help these citizens with a voluntary federal buy-out for all citizens. The State of Oklahoma has already taken action help small children, but Boren believes that all citizens should have the option to move away from ground zero.
