In addition to the Volunteer Home Repair Program, Rebuilding Together Houston manages two supporting programs: Roofs Over Houston and Interior Repair that utilize fully insured, licensed contractors to address urgent issues such as leaky roofs, unsanitary plumbing conditions, unsafe electrical systems and homes with air conditioning and heating problems.

Roofs Over Houston: tackling “blue tarp” houses and others in desperate need of repair, Rebuilding Together utilizes licensed contractors to restore roofs and stop water leaks.

• Since inception in the late 1980s almost 2800 ($11M) new roofs have been completed
• Over the last five years (2009-2013) Rebuilding Together has averaged 90 new roofs every year

Interior Repair Program: Rebuilding Together again utilizes licensed contractors to repair dangerously inadequate and outdated interior systems. The scope of services provided under this program includes repairs to gas and water services, electrical systems, air conditioning and heating, and structural work – such as house leveling and interior floor repair and leveling.

• Since inception in the late 1980s nearly 4600 ($18M) critical repairs were completed
• Over the last five years (2009-2013) Rebuilding Together has averaged 255 repair projects every year

Safer Home Program: utilizes licensed contractors and volunteers to provide home modifications for elderly adults and people with disabilities. The scope of services provided under this program includes the installation of grab bars, railings, levered doorknobs, and wheelchair ramps among many other repairs and modifications to make homes safer and more accessible so homeowners can remain as mobile and independent as possible as they reach their older years.

• Nearly 900 projects ($2.5M in volunteer labor and materials value) have been completed (average of 55 per year over the 2009-2013 period)
