James E. (Jim) Soller
Executive Director
A native of Ohio; Jim Soller is a Vietnam-era Navy veteran. A college basketball player at Bucknell University, after graduation Jim spent time in the sporting goods industry, partnering in a start-up venture in Annapolis, Maryland. He joined ExxonMobil Chemical in Maryland and moved to the Houston area with that company n 1985. He retired from ExxonMobil in 2005.
As a Rebuilding Together volunteer, Jim led repair crews for the organization for more than 25 years. He also served on the Rebuilding Together Houston board or directors before becoming full-time executive director in January 2013.
He has served on other church and non-profit boards including Memorial Drive Presbyterian, the YMCA of Greater Houston, Hope Center for Youth, and Bayou City Performing Arts. He’s also conducted strategic planning sessions for a number of other non-profit organizations.
Jim and his wife Jan have been married since 1969 and have two children and two grandchildren. In addition to do-it-yourself and home-handyman work, Jim also enjoys tennis, golf, bridge, reading, theater, movies, meals out with friends, and travel.
