Hazelwood Middle School Carnival.
Charles Ankney, a
Social Studies Teacher from Hazelwood Middle
School, in St. Louis had an idea. He wanted
to get his students involved in a community
service project that would serve people with
disabilities while educating his students to
the differences in us all. On February 11, 2006
the PFF, Charles and his students held a carnival
at the gym of Hazelwood middle school for children
with Down syndrome.
There were games, prizes and a talent show for
the kids. “I’m not sure how many kids
we ended up with” said Ankney, “but
I know we had over 50 RSVPs from the Down Syndrome
Association.”

the wonderful student volunteers who made this
event possible.
