Russ Carnahan has taken a leading role
in the U.S. House Democratic Caucus to
build our party and take our country in
a new direction. In his only term in Congress,
he was appointed to a leadership position
as Assistant Democratic Whip. He was named
to the powerful Transportation and Infrastructure
Committee and the only freshman appointed
to the prestigious International Relations
Committee.
Congressman Carnahan has dedicated has
political clout to helping Democrats across
Missouri and the nation in a year of historic
opportunity. During this election cycle
he has raised and contributed over $250,000
as follows:
During his first term in office, Congressman
Carnahan has contributed more than $100,000
to the Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee (DCCC) and raised more than
$57,000 for the Committee, while addition
to bringing leading Democrats to St. Louis
like Leader Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer
and Rahm Emanuel.
Congressman Carnahan has contributed
more than $30,000 directly to DCCC Red-to-Blue
targeted candidates.
The Congressman has raised more
than $65,000 for other members of the
Missouri Democratic Delegation.
In addition to
economic contributions, Congressman Carnahan
is committed to a massive Get Out The
Vote (GOTV) effort that will help Democratic
candidates up and down the ballot in Missouri.
Strong turn-out in St. Louis and Jefferson
Counties is vital to the success of statewide
candidates like U.S. Senate candidate
Claire McCaskill and State Auditor candidate
Susan Montee. By committing Team Carnahan
to the logistical and organizational effort
of a massive GOTV campaign, the Congressman
is launching a strike that will offset
the Republicans' notorious '72-hour plan'.
Team Carnahan is part of Congressman Carnahan's
larger commitment to party building and
is closely linked with Camp Carnahan,
a program that trains Democratic activists,
candidates and campaign staff. Congressman
Carnahan has continued theses annual weekend
training programs that were originally
started by his father, Governor Mel Carnahan.
