Verbal Menu
When the Rittenhouse
Inn first opened its doors
in 1975, the waitstaff
was forced to improvise
when the printer failed
to deliver the Inn's printed
menus. Thus was born the
tradition of the "Verbal
Menu."
"It was ideal in
many ways," explains
Innkeeper Jerry Phillips,
"it allowed us to
change menu items daily
in order to feature the
freshest local ingredients
and the delightful creations
of our talented chefs."
While printed luncheon
and dinner menus are now
used, you'll still experience
a bit of the verbal menu
tradition when our waitstaff
offers off-the-menu specials
and recommendations. Also,
our full dessert list
is always described in
mouth-watering detail
at the end of your meal.
