Apostle Island Cruise

Beaches

Big Top Chautauqua

Birdwatching
Bird lovers rejoice! The Chequamegon Bay area, including Bayfield, is home to hundreds of bird species which can be spotted from land and sea. A birding and nature festival is held in the area each spring. For more information, click here.
Charter Fishing
The Bayfield area has a long history of excellent fishing. Sport fishermen (and women) seeking to bring home a large lake trout or salmon catch will want to connect with one of the areas fishing charters. Half-day and full-day charters are available with most services. PLAY VIDEO
Cycling
Cycling experiences are many and varied: from a casual ride around town, to a tour of one of the areas many farms and orchards to something a little or a lot more challenging on the Bayfield area's many hills. Golf
With Lake Superior as the backdrop, Bayfield is any golfer's dream destination. With golfing opportunities both on shore at the
Apostle Highlands Golf Course as well as on Madeline Island at the Madeline Island Golf Club, bring your clubs and soak in the view.
Hiking
The Chequamegon National Forest has 850,000 acres of rolling terrain dotted with crystal clear lakes, rushing rivers and meandering streams, plus hundreds of miles of easy-going to rugged hiking, mountain biking and cycling trails, as well as five public and four private campgrounds. Kayaking
As the "Gateway to Madeline Island and the Apostle Islands" Bayfield is also ground zero for kayakers from throughout the Midwest. The island's charm and natural beauty make it the perfect get-away location. Daily ferries shuttle both vehicles and pedestrians to the and from the island, where you'll find shopping, dining and nature in abundance. Orchards

Sailing
Visitors to the Bayfield area always marvel at the abundance of billowy white sails dotting the Lake Superior seascape. It's easy and fun to be a part of the local sailing community. Sea Caves
Centuries of wave action, freezing, and thawing have sculpted shorelines throughout Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Some of the Great Lakes' most spectacular scenery occurs where these forces interact with sandstone of the Devils Island Formation to create extensive sea caves. For more information, click here.
Shopping
There's a little something for everyone in Bayfield's many charming shops and galleries. The area hosts a thriving artists' community and their crafts are available to admire or purchase. Wineries
