7.20.07: PFF Visits Jayson
Fleming
Jayson (Jay) Fleming of Hendersonville, Tennessee
was seriously injured in a boating accident
on 7/7/07 and lost his left arm at the shoulder.
He spent his recovery time at Vanderbilt Children's
Hospital in Nashville, TN. Jayson had his
7th birthday on 7/10/07 while at the hospital.
Jayson's dad, Todd, says that
he is "a sweet, tender-hearted boy with
a love for everyone and for baseball."
Even though the Flemings now reside in Tennessee,
Jay's favorite team is the Cardinals and his
favorite player is Albert Pujols.
Todd Perry, director of the
PFF made a trip to Nashville to visit Jayson
and to bring him a special surprise from Albert
himself. "When I walked into the hospital
room, "Perry says, "I'm not sure
he had any idea who I was. When I told him
that Albert Pujols had sent me here to bring
him a gift, I think I had his attention."
The PFF sent a goodie bag of hats, magazines
and cards to brighten Jay's day, but the gift
from Albert was a personally signed baseball
bat!
"Jayson is a great kid!"
Perry said in closing. " He has the best
doctors, a great support system of friends
and family and parents that love him
.
I know he is going to be fine."
