Oklahoma
is already the model for the nation when
it comes to stamping out clandestine methamphetamine
labs, but Gov. Henry wants to step up
the state's anti-narcotics efforts' by
targeting drug kingpins who import meth
from Mexico and other areas. To attack
this new front in the drug war, the governor
has proposed additional undercover agents
on the street and increased treatment
and education programs.
Gov. Henry also wants to aid the federal
government as it works to address the
country's growing illegal immigration
problem. Gov. Henry was among the first
of the nation’s governors to offer
National Guard troops to President Bush
and members of the Oklahoma National Guard
are now aiding in patrolling the Mexican
border. The governor also wants to attack
illegal immigration at home by penalizing
businesses that knowingly hire undocumented
citizens and denying Medicaid and other
services to unqualified immigrants |
