NRA endorses Governor Henry
Oklahoma
City - The National Rifle Association
has endorsed the re-election bid of
Gov. Brad Henry. The letter of endorsement,
signed by NRA State and Local Affairs
Director Randy J. Kozuch, was delivered
to the governor today.
"I am thankful
for the endorsement and support of the
National Rifle Association and its thousands
of members in Oklahoma and around the
nation," Gov. Henry said. "The
NRA plays a vital role in protecting
the freedoms granted by the Second Amendment,
and I am pleased the NRA recognizes
the work of my administration and our
strong support of the Second Amendment."
Gov. Henry, an avid
hunter and fisherman, has consistently
protected the rights of gun owners.
While in the State Senate, he voted
for Oklahoma's concealed carry law.
More recently, he signed the Stand Your
Ground Law, protecting the Castle Doctrine
and preserving the right of Oklahomans
to defend themselves whenever they are
threatened with deadly force.
Gov. Henry also signed
a law prohibiting state officials from
seizing the firearms of lawful citizens
during an emergency, and he opposes
a state handgun licensing law.
"You have proven
to be a close ally and friend of Oklahoma's
freedom-loving firearm owners by signing
the nation's first bill to prohibit
employers from banning locked, lawfully-owned
employee firearms in company parking
lots and by also signing Oklahoma's
'Stand Your Ground' bill giving law-abiding
citizens the right to protect themselves
and their loved ones," Kozuch writes
in the letter.
"This strong record
of service as Governor of Oklahoma clearly
illustrates your commitment to protecting
the rights of law-abiding firearms owners
and sportsmen."
Gov. Henry has an A
rating from the National Rifle Association.
He has also been endorsed for re-election
by the Oklahoma Rifle Association.
"Throughout my
time in public office, I have sought
to protect our right to bear arms,"
Gov. Henry said. "As a lifelong
Oklahoman and sportsman, and as a husband
and father, I know how vital our Second
Amendment rights are to our safety,
our freedom, and our way of life."

9.08.06 Firefighters
Endorse Governor Henry
Oklahoma
CityOklahomas fire fighters
have recently announced their endorsement
of Gov. Brad Henry, citing his policies
that have kept Oklahoma at the forefront
of disaster preparedness.
I am honored by
the support of the men and women who
keep Oklahoma lives and property safe,
Gov. Henry said. The wildfires
of the last year have been hard on Oklahomas
fire fighters and their families and
I, along with all Oklahomans, are in
debt to them for their service.
Billy Hubbard, President
of the Professional Fire Fighters of
Oklahoma, cited several of the governors
initiatives in explaining the endorsement.
Governor Henry
has consistently responded to the needs
of fire fighters in Oklahoma,
Hubbard said. The governor created
the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security
and led the fight to pass the Operation
Firewall initiative, delivering badly
needed funds to Oklahoma fire departments
during the height of last winters
wildfires.
Under
Governor Henrys leadership, fire
fighters can be sure that the Oklahoma
Standard will remain the standard
to which other states aspire.
Governor Henry has
also been endorsed by groups including
the Fraternal Order of Police, the Oklahoma
Rifle Association, and the Oklahoma Education
Association. The National Rifle Association
endorsed Gov. Henry in the primary and
have not made an endorsement for the general
election. |

7.09.06 Fraternal
Order of Police endorse Governor Henry
Oklahoma City- The Oklahoma
Fraternal Order of Police has voted
to endorse Gov. Brad Henry for a second
term as the state's chief executive.
The action came on Saturday at the group's
biennial conference at Quartz Mountain
Lodge.
"I am honored to
have the support of Oklahoma's law enforcement
officers," Gov. Henry said. "These
brave men and women are our first responders
and the bedrock of our communities.
They carry that responsibility admirably,
and I am humbled by their faith in me.
"One of the highlights
of my first term was the passage of
the law restricting access to meth ingredients,"
Gov. Henry said. "We've seen a
phenomenal drop in the number of meth
labs in Oklahoma, and that law has been
copied by dozens states and the federal
government."
Oklahoma FOP president
Ron Bartmier cited Gov. Henry's tough
stance on crime and support of officers
as key reasons for the endorsement.
"Governor Henry
has supported continued collective bargaining
rights for municipal police officers
and has also stepped forward to push
for increased job security for deputies,"
Bartmier said. "The governor has
supported any crime bills that we deemed
necessary for our officers in the performance
of their duties and to citizens for
their protection."
Governor Henry received
the FOP's endorsement during his first
campaign in 2002. This year, the governor
has also received endorsements from
the Oklahoma Rifle Association and the
Oklahoma Education Association.

clean campaign
Oklahoma

Wednesday for again endorsing his candidacy
with a landslide victory and pledged
to run a clean, spirited campaign to
the November general election.

all my supporters for their hard work
and thank Oklahoma voters for their
continued confidence in my administration,"

state on the move, and it is because
Oklahomans from all walks of life are
coming together and working hard for
a better tomorrow."
The governor, who received
more votes in his primary than all the
Republican candidates combined, pledged
to base his campaign on the achievements
of his administration, not on negative
attacks on his opponent.
"I'm proud
of all that we've accomplished already,"

education programs are the best in the
country. The anti-methamphetamine law
I helped pass is a national model for
virtually every other state and the
federal government.
"Our Insure
Oklahoma initiative, which helps small
businesses offer health insurance for
their workers, is turning heads nationally.
We're raising teacher pay and putting
more resources in the classroom than
ever before. People are looking to Oklahoma
for ideas, and they are finding excellence."
"Oklahoma
is on the move, and through there will
certainly be challenges ahead, we will
confront them as Oklahomans always have-by
working together to build a better Oklahoma."
