opportunities to Oklahoma families and
stop the brain drain from the state, Gov.
Henry is transforming the state’s
economic structure to a knowledge-based
economy. The governor wants to make Oklahoma
the “Research Capital of the Plains”
by creating a $1 billion endowment to
fund cutting-edge research projects across
the state. Gov. Henry helped create the
endowment this year, but legislators have
yet to set aside enough funding for it.
