July
4th Holiday
We left Lexington at 9:30 and went first to Reeves
Park in Norman. Things were just warming up with
ball games, picnics, pony rides, and lots of politics.
It seemed like everyone we met there was an old
friend and supporter. We ran out of yard signs
almost immediately.
On our way to Seminole on Highway 9, we stopped
at my sister's farm east of Norman for just a
few minutes, as we were in a hurry to get back
on the road. Once in Seminole, we met our good
friends and supporters, Senator Harry Coats, and
his wife, whose son was playing in the band that
day.
The next stop was Calvin-Atwood, where we joined
about 400 people enjoying a free barbeque and
a country music festival. It was the best kind
of Oklahoma Fourth of July.
Finally, we arrived at McAlester where we met
another supporter, Senator Richard Lerblance and
his beautiful wife Frances. Cal also met junior
cowboy, Joseph, and his mother Stephanie. Getting
to meet and listen to so many Oklahomans and to
join them in celebrating our nation's independence
was one of the best experiences we've had. It
will definitely be a 4th that we will never forget!
We also sent out our staff and volunteers to visit
events in these Oklahoma cities and towns: Anadarko,
Ardmore, Moore, Norman, Purcell, Tuttle, Ada,
Chickasha, Marlow, Lawton, Tishomingo, Edmond,
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Yukon..
