Gutter Dance Date Set for May 10th

Uwe von Schamann, director of development for the J. D. McCarty Center for children with developmental disabilities, has announced the date for this year's Gutter Dance IV charity bowling event. The date is Thursday, May 10. The location is the Sooner Bowling Center at 550 24th Avenue in Norman.

"This event has grown to be very popular among McCarty Center supporters," said von Schamann, "and its proven to be a good event to introduce new people to the hospital and the work we do."

The highlight of the Gutter Dance is the 7-10 split roll off. The Gutter Dance is a two game event. The top ten individual bowlers get one chance to make a 7-10 split. The bowler who can pick up the split this year will win a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt provided by event sponsor Marc Heitz Chevrolet in Norman.

The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and registration. Dinner will be served to the participants by the Norman location of Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant one of the event sponsors.

Bowling will begin at 7:00 p.m. and awards will be handed out at 9:00 p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second, third and last place teams. There also be a prize for the team with the most creative bowling shirts and lots of door prizes.

"We've added a twist to this year's event," von Schamann said. "We've added something called buy a ringer. For $10, a team may buy a coupon entitling them to have one frame bowled for them by a local king pen with a very high average. Each team is allowed to buy a maximum of two coupons to use anytime during the two game event that they choose."

The entry fee for Gutter Dance IV is $200 per team of four bowlers. Lane sponsorships are available. For more information about the sponsorships contact von Schamann at 307.2804.

Entry forms may be found at event sponsors: Marc Heitz Chevrolet, Johnny Carino's, First American Bank, the law office of Blake Virgin, the dental office of Randall Venk, Sooner Bowling Center or by calling von Schamann at 307.2804.
