Gutter Dance Date Set for May 10th

director of development for the J. D. McCarty
Center for children with developmental disabilities,
has announced the date for this year's Gutter
Dance IV charity bowling event. The date is
Thursday, May 10. The location is the Sooner
Bowling Center at 550 24th Avenue in Norman.
"This event
has grown to be very popular among McCarty Center
supporters," said von Schamann, "and
its proven to be a good event to introduce new
people to the hospital and the work we do."
The highlight of the Gutter
Dance is the 7-10 split roll off. The Gutter
Dance is a two game event. The top ten individual
bowlers get one chance to make a 7-10 split.
The bowler who can pick up the split this year
will win a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt provided by
event sponsor Marc Heitz Chevrolet in Norman.
The event will begin at
6:00 p.m. with dinner and registration. Dinner
will be served to the participants by the Norman
location of Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant
one of the event sponsors.
Bowling will begin at
7:00 p.m. and awards will be handed out at 9:00
p.m. Trophies will be awarded to the first,
second, third and last place teams. There also
be a prize for the team with the most creative
bowling shirts and lots of door prizes.
"We've added a twist
to this year's event," von Schamann said.
"We've added something called buy a ringer.
For $10, a team may buy a coupon entitling them
to have one frame bowled for them by a local
king pen with a very high average. Each team
is allowed to buy a maximum of two coupons to
use anytime during the two game event that they
choose."
The entry fee for Gutter
Dance IV is $200 per team of four bowlers. Lane
sponsorships are available. For more information

The J. D. McCarty Center
is Oklahoma's center of excellence in the care
and treatment of children with developmental
disabilities from birth to 21. Founded in 1946,
the McCarty Center treated only one diagnosis
cerebral
palsy. To date, the McCarty Center has treated
more than 70 different diagnoses in the developmental
disability category. In an average year, the
McCarty Center will treat children from 70 of
Oklahoma's 77 counties.
