With thousand of Oklahomans playing an active role in the war on terrorism, Gov. Henry moved to lend assistance to soldiers abroad and families at home.

Operation Homefront provides tax benefits, insurance and other assistance to military men and women serving overseas. The governor has also pushed for increased funding for the state’s veteran centers to make sure the heroes of yesterday’s conflicts are well cared for.

When historic wildfires struck the state in 2005 and 2006, Gov. Henry moved quickly to aid firefighters and first responders on the front lines. The governor pushed to obtain federal disaster assistance for Oklahoma and implemented Operation Firewall, a program that will deliver more resources, equipment and training to rural fire departments across the state
