Mission
To explore advanced materials – such as applied electromagnetics, superconducting materials and devices, semiconductors, and advanced oxide films; nano-materials – such as nano-thin films, nano-mechanics, nano-magnetic materials and nano-system manufacturing; and structural materials — such as ceramics, composites, well logging, roads, and subsurface sensing.

PROGRAMS AND CENTERS

The Nano-Materials research cluster is made up of three broad areas of materials study: nano, structural and advanced. The cluster, which plays an important role in the university’s Strategic Energy Alliance, health initiatives and space exploration efforts, includes multiple materials centers and institutes that draw on the expertise of researchers from both the Cullen College of Engineering and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
