Tom Tynan, HomeShow Radio
Tom Tynan's construction career began at age 17. Since then, he's earned a professional degree in architecture from the University of Miami, Florida. He's worked as a welder, taught college classes, built homes, run the workforce program at Houston Community College and, of course, served as Houston's longest-running "home improvement" radio answer man.
Adding to his list of accomplishments, Tom Tynan is an Honorary Campaign Crew Leader for Rebuilding Together Houston's Super Impact 17 fundraising campaign.
Tynan began his broadcast career as host of the Home Improvement Hotline radio show in 1987. He also contributed numerous home improvement features on KHOU-TV. Tom also hosted the syndicated television show, "Our House" and "Dream House" on the Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV). Today, Tom can be seen on HomeShowRadio.com and heard weekend mornings on HomeShow Radio, broadcast on Sports Radio 610.
In addition to helping improve homes, Tynan is helping launch careers as Director of Construction Trades, Continuing Education at Houston Community College. The program trains new welders, p ipe fitters, electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians and auto cad operators. Since his arrival at HCC, Tom has helped more than 2,000 students start new careers.
Tom is married to former KHOU-TV anchor and reporter Sandra Gin. He has three adult children: James, John and Amanda.
