Research is one of the critical
components in becoming a nationally competitive
university. To build on the University of Houston’s
strengths and move toward that goal, we are
utilizing a research cluster framework –
harnessing UH’s research potential in six
areas of strategic strength. Through this exercise,
we have identified the interrelationships of
research areas in order to begin to capitalize
on them. UH is located in the global energy
capital and near the largest medical center
in the world, and, so, energy and biomedical
research are naturally two of our greatest strengths.
