November 16, 2015

Twenty members of  our SABR chapter attended the November 16th meeting hosted by Jim Kreuz and Mike McCroskey. We started with Astros veteran play-by-play broadcaster, baseball historian and author Bill Brown entertaining us with a personal report on his years of service to the Big Red Machine in the mid 70's, the Cincinnati Reds.

Bill was followed by former FOX SW broadcaster Greg Lucas who is also a baseball historian and author. Greg talked about the need for a simpler, more meaningful approach to baseball stats that would allow fans to better grasp what each player actually contributes to the team and it's victories.

Tony Cavender scored once again with his timely book report and then the chapter worked on a trivia contest prepared by Tom White. We had 2 winners; Greg Lucas and Herb Whalley. Herb was selected to write the next trivia contest.

We also said good bye to our youngest member Ben Brink. Ben's Dad, Peter, has been transferred to the State of Washington and we will miss their contributions to our chapter.
