Write Winning Grants Back to Events

By Grant Writers’ Seminars and Workshops, LLC

Friday, Oct. 24, 2008
8:00 – 8:30 a.m. – Registration, Sign-In and Breakfast
8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Program
The University of Houston Hilton

This widely acclaimed seminar comprehensively addresses both practical and conceptual aspects that are important to the proposal-writing process. Emphasis is given to such things as idea development, identification of the most appropriate granting agency, how to write for reviewers, and tips and strategies that are of proven value in presenting an applicant's case to reviewers.

Participants are taught to organize their presentations using linear progressions of logic that lead reviewers through their applications. It is stressed that applicants are writing for two different audiences of reviewers - those who have read the application in its entirety and those who have read little, if anything, before the review meeting. The focus is on developing advocacy for funding in both groups.

Participants will receive an extensive handout, which contains the slides and examples used during the seminar, as well as a copy of “The Grant Application Writer’s Workbook.”

Registration information:

Seating for the workshop will be limited to the first 50 faculty (assistant professor, associate professor, professor, research assistant professor, research associate professor, research professor, research scientist, and senior research scientist) applicants. Preference will be given to faculty who have not attended previous proposal writing workshops.
