Tostones
(Fried Plantains)

Ingredients

1 green plantain
Oil for frying
Garlic salt

Directions

Remove the hard peeling off the plantain
Slice the plantain into inch-long sections
In a deep-fryer or a nine-inch deep-dish sauté pan, heat oil.
Add the plantain piece and let cook for about 5 minutes. Flip and fry the other side for 5 more minutes.
Remove the plantains from oil. Using a plantain masher or the bottom of a cup, flatten the plantains into a patty.
Place the plantains back into the oil until golden, another 5 minutes or so.
Take the tostones out of oil, sprinkle with garlic salt and enjoy.
