Memorial Park Conservancy's
the Green Gala raises over $380,000

Houston, Texas - Memorial Park Conservancy, Inc. joined community and city forces to host The Green Gala honoring posthumously Miss Ima Hogg and its lifetime members Sadie Gwin Blackburn, Claire Caudill, Terry Hershey, and Frank C. Smith, Jr. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. The event was held at the River Oaks Country Club; cocktails and dinner were served. John Wilson Kelsey and Gaye Lovett Davis with Kate and Steve Gibson served as Co-chairs of the event. Linda Lorelle served as Mistress of Ceremonies. Green orchids, roses and ferns graced the pale green tables. Lively conversation peppered the evening.

Nearly 400 patrons paid $500 each for the opportunity to celebrate Memorial Park and honor those who help to protect and enhance it. Funds raised by the Gala benefit the ongoing programs and enhancement efforts of Memorial Park Conservancy in cooperation with Houston Parks & Recreation Department. Music was provided by "Jazz Revisited." Video tribute provided by Stonefilms of Texas set the stage for future Memorial Park development.

Memorial Park Conservancy's mission is to protect, preserve and enhance Memorial Park in accordance with the wishes of the donor, Ima Hogg.
