National Security
Dan Boren believes that national
security is the most important responsibility
of the federal government. The defense of America
by land, sea, sky, and cyber space allows our
nation to prosper in peace and security. The
Untied States wields the most formidable military
in world, capable of projecting power to every
corner of the globe in the name of freedom.
Boren has no doubt that peace here at home is
a direct result of our military strength.
He also believes that military
service is a time-honored tradition in Oklahoma
and throughout America. Many Americans proudly
serve in uniform, always prepared to answer
the call to duty to secure the homeland or confront
foreign enemies abroad. Boren knows that Eastern
Oklahomans have served in every major U.S. military
conflict, ranging from world wars of the past
to the current conflicts today in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The nation is secure today because of brave
Americans who proudly served their country,
and others who made the ultimate sacrifice for
freedom.
As your Congressman, Dan Boren
has the responsibility to provide resources
to the military services so they can keep American
safe. Boren knows that without this critical
funding the United States military could not
meet the demands of our national security.
As a long-serving member of the
House Armed Services Committee, Congressman
Boren has:
Voted consistently to provide critical funding
to our troops now serving overseas in Iraq and
Afghanistan.
Approved resources for development, procurement,
and fielding of new weapons systems to give
our forces the edge over our enemies.
Supported policies that reorient our military
forces to defeat the enemies of today and deter
future adversaries.
Voted in favor of legislation to enhance the
lives of military service members and their
families.
Supported funding to modernize equipment and
training facilities for Oklahoma's National
Guard and Reserves.
Secured millions of dollars in defense project
funding for all Oklahoma military installations,
but especially the McAlester Army Ammunition
Plant in McAlester and Camp Gruber near Braggs.
